Comment NASA has yet to launch the rocket that would carry astronauts to the moon and has yet to select the crew that will explore the lunar surface as part of the Artemis program. But it has already determined where on the moon the astronauts will land. The space agency announced Friday that it has selected 13 potential areas at the Moon’s South Pole, where ice exists in permanently shadowed craters and is far from the area explored by Neil Armstrong and the other Apollo astronauts....

On Tuesday night the real event began. Team Artemis is targeting its first two-hour launch window from 8:33am. ET to 10:33 a.m. ET on Monday, August 29. There are backup launch windows on September 2nd and September 5th. The massive 322-foot-tall (98-meter) stack began a slow 4-mile (6.4-kilometer) journey on one of NASA’s giant Apollo-era crawlers from the assembly building to the launch site — just like the missions shuttle and the Apollo Saturn V rockets once did....

SpaceX launched 53 Starlink broadband satellites from the Cape Canaveral space station on Friday. The company has launched 3,108 Starlink satellites with 2,809 spacecraft in operation, according to Jonathan’s Space Report. It was the ninth flight for the Falcon 9 first stage booster that supported this mission, which previously launched GPS III Space Vehicle 04, GPS III Space Vehicle 05, Inspiration4, Ax-1, Nilesat 301 and now four Starlink missions ....

Emergency crews were called to 10 Glen Everest Road, east of Kingston Road, before noon for a stabbing. When they arrived, officers located a man in the lobby of a building suffering from apparent trauma. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. On Sunday, police identified the man as 38-year-old Leon Tyrell of Toronto. He is the city’s 43rd homicide victim.
