Durham police said Sunday they monitored an off-road ATV trail near Concession 8 and Side 20 after the gruesome discovery. 
An autopsy will be conducted to establish more details about the deceased, Durham Regional Police said.
Medical examiners are working with the Coroner’s Office and a forensic anthropologist to recover the remains, they said.
Anyone who used the off-road ATV trail in the past three weeks is asked to come forward and speak with investigators by calling 1-888-579-1520.  Anonymous information can also be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
