In a press release on Friday, VicPD says David Johnstone, 63, was found dead on Thursday, August 18, in Victoria. “David’s death is not believed to be suspicious,” VicPD said, also noting that the BC Coroner’s Service has launched its own investigation to determine the events surrounding his death. After David went missing, Reginald and Jen Johnston, David’s dad and stepmom, said they were told by police that David took a cab to Clover Point and didn’t come home. Reginald told CHEK News that David had been struggling with his mental health in recent years, and Jen recalled that her stepson was struggling to deal with isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. “He was in the hospital where we couldn’t go and see him or anything there,” Jen told CHEK News. “We had to rely on phone calls and stuff.
