Chantelle Broughton, 29, welcomed Ayon and Azirah into the world at Nottingham Hospital on April 30, both weighing 6kg 1oz. Son Ayon was born with green eyes and fair skin, while daughter Azirah has brown eyes and much darker skin. Chantelle says she looks white but is of mixed race due to having a maternal grandfather from Nigeria, while dad Ashton, also 29, a construction worker, is half Jamaican, half Scottish. The mum-of-three revealed that the twins didn’t look very different from each other at birth, but as the weeks went by, Azirah’s skin started to get darker and darker. She says the four-month-old twins now have “completely opposite” personalities but seem to get on well and are regularly asked: “Are they both yours?”
