Wrecked German Wwii Ships Uncovered With Danube River At Historic Low

Dozens of German warships sunk during World War II have surfaced in the Danube River near Prahovo, Serbia. The boats – exposed due to the low level of the river – were among hundreds of Nazi Germany’s Black Sea fleet retreated by Soviet forces in 1944. The Danube crosses 10 European countries, making it the continent’s second longest river.

However, only a 330-foot width of the river is navigable near the port city due to nearly two dozen shipwrecks discovered this year.
