Shoppers contacted Castanet earlier in the day to report that refrigerators appeared to have malfunctioned and access to things like milk, eggs and other cold and frozen items was blocked. “What a waste, Westbank Superstore had a cooling system meltdown,” wrote one customer. A member of staff in the meat department was heard telling customers that the coolers had been closed for seven hours overnight. By 1:30 p.m., Superstore employees had begun restocking the meat section and there was ground beef and some chicken.
